The Rolex Submariner is basically Rolex’s crown jewel – it’s one of their most popular and sought-after watches. What started as a tough dive watch has now become a cultural status symbol and a versatile timepiece that looks great in any setting. But with all that fame and prestige comes a hefty price tag that can be hard for many shoppers to swallow.

The current Submariner model lists for $10,050, while the Submariner Date goes for $11,350. And that’s just the MSRP – the real market price is even higher, with dealers often charging a 21% premium or more to skip the long waiting lists. If you’d rather not deal with all that, there’s a great Submariner-style alternative that’s way cheaper: the Longines HydroConquest L37404966.

Longines has been around since 1832 and is known for its “elegance, tradition and performance,” including a long history in sports timekeeping. So with the HydroConquest, you’re getting that kind of premium pedigree without the sky-high Rolex price.
