For master decorating dupers, Dollar Tree is the go-to spot. Those wine glasses and fairy lights aren’t just for drinking and crafting – they’re the perfect components for a stylish DIY lamp that’ll look like a fancy $400 fixture, but with a wallet-friendly price tag.
Grab some stemless wine glasses and string lights, and you’re on your way to creating this high-end lamp mimic. Don’t forget the glue gun!
You’ll also need a round woven basket, about 6 inches tall and 4-5 inches wide at the base, to use as a lampshade. Dollar Tree has a rotating selection, so you may need to try a few options to find the perfect fit. A decorative metal tin or galvanized bucket could work too, if that’s more your style.
Creating the high-end lamp from the base up
Start by building the lamp’s base. Glue the candleholder onto the rim of the wine glass to create a sturdy stand. For extra stability, you can fill the glass with flat marbles before gluing.
Next, wrap the string lights around the candleholder bars, letting the controller sit on top. You can tape it down if you want, but it’s not totally necessary.
Lastly, plop the basket on top to create the lampshade. The original lamp comes in brass and nickel, but the Dollar Tree candleholder is black. You can give it a coat of spray paint if you want to match the metallic look. Just make sure to do that before you assemble the base.
