Costco is a popular place to shop for all sorts of deals, and their Kirkland private label brand is a great way to save even more money. When it comes to mattresses, Costco offers a couple of Kirkland-branded options that are worth checking out if you’re in the market for a new bed.
The Kirkland mattresses start at around $950-$1,000, which is pretty affordable compared to other name-brand options. Most customers seem to be pretty happy with them, with around 70% giving them 5-star reviews. However, there are also some folks who aren’t as impressed, with about 5.5% of reviewers giving them just 1 star.
Why Costco customers appreciate the Kirkland mattresses
Lots of customers love the free shipping and delivery that comes with the Kirkland mattresses, and they say the delivery team was really helpful. The generous return policy is also a big plus – you can return the mattress for any reason, even after using it, without needing the original packaging.
Some reviewers were pleasantly surprised by the high-quality feel of the Kirkland mattresses, especially considering the low price. They say the motion transfer is minimal and the support is really solid, with the patented Stearns & Foster IntelliCoil system doing a great job of keeping things firm and versatile.
Customers who prefer a firmer mattress seem to be quite happy with the Kirkland options, with the Tight Top model in particular being lauded for its supportive feel. The Pillow Top version is also considered quite firm, with just the right amount of plushness on top.
Reasons why customers recommend skipping Kirkland mattresses
The most common complaint from unhappy customers is about sagging and lumpiness in the mattress. Even the Tight Top model, which is supposed to be super firm, has had some issues with this. It seems the different coils used in the middle versus the edges may contribute to uneven support.
The Pillow Top version also seems to have problems with sagging and indentations after just a few months of use. The TENCEL fiber and memory foam layers don’t seem to hold up as well as some would hope.
Some customers feel the Kirkland mattresses don’t quite live up to the usual Stearns & Foster quality, seeing them as cheaper replicas of the brand’s luxury products. But at the end of the day, you’re still getting a Stearns & Foster-made mattress for a fraction of the normal price by shopping at Costco.
