The downside of generic brands is they tend to fall apart more quickly due to lower density and lack of compression. You might end up using two or three generic sponges to get the job done, compared to just one name-brand. If you need heavy-duty cleaning power, Mr. Clean is worth the extra investment. But if your needs are more basic or you’re on a tighter budget, a cheaper generic option could be the way to go.
