Snail mail is almost gone, replaced by digital communication. But the charm of finding a letter in the mailbox, with its cool stamps, still lives on. Lots of us have kept these sentimental envelopes and their mini works of art. Why not display them in a fun DIY wall decor project?
You don’t need a fancy stamp collection for this. Domestic stamps, vintage stamps, or even packs you find secondhand can all work. Just grab a hangable base, some scissors, and craft glue, and you’re good to go.
For a budget-friendly option, paint a canvas or print a smooth surface in a color that complements your stamps. Thick paper like cardstock or watercolor paper also makes a great backdrop.
Mount your stamps in a frame to morph them into wall art
Ready to get crafty with your stamps? If your base needs assembly, like a frame, get that ready first. You can swap out the backing with cardstock or watercolor paper. If your stamps are on envelopes, trim the excess paper – aged stamps may be too fragile to soak off.
Arrange your stamps in a layout you like before gluing them down. Follow the rule of thirds for best results, with your key stamps along the lines. Take photos with your phone so you can recreate the layout easily. Glue the stamps in place, then pop the whole thing in the frame and hang it up. For a 3D look, use thick adhesive to affix the stamps in a raised, layered way.
