A former CIA-funded researcher has claimed that wrecked UFOs recovered by the United States contained evidence of several different alien species. The remark comes from Dr. Hal Puthoff, who says he has been told the wreckage points to far more than a single kind of visitor. No physical evidence has been shown to support the idea.
A bold claim on a popular podcast
Puthoff, 89, spoke on The Diary of a CEO podcast, where he appeared with filmmaker Dan Farah. He is a former adviser to the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program. For years his name has been tied to investigations into UFOs and advanced aerospace technology.
During the conversation he said that "people who have been involved in recoveries have said there are at least four separate types." He was careful to add that he has not seen any of this first-hand. In his words: "I have not had direct access to that, but I believe the people I talked to."
Sources too frightened to talk
Farah’s documentary, Age of Disclosure, premiered earlier this year and explores claims about unidentified aerial phenomena. He told the podcast that he had spoken in confidence with people who were supposedly connected to recovery operations. Many of them were too frightened to speak publicly.
He described one source who backed out of an interview at the eleventh hour. The person was worried that taking part would "forfeit" their life. Farah did not present anything to confirm who these people were or what they had seen.
Echoes of the Grusch testimony
The latest remarks follow the 2023 testimony of David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer, to Congress. Grusch claimed that the US government held "non-human biologics" that had been retrieved from UFO crash sites. His statements set off discussion around the world about whether secret programs studying unidentified craft might exist inside the US military and intelligence community.
Interest has stayed high since then. Recently declassified UFO files have added to the buzz, with one reported claim describing 4ft aliens in space suits and helmets.
What NASA says
The space agency has taken a cautious line. It has said it has not yet discovered life on any other planet and has seen no scientifically supported evidence for extraterrestrial life. It points out that, on Earth, microbial life turns up nearly everywhere scientists have looked.
NASA also quoted Carl Sagan: "The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, it seems like an awful waste of space." The agency says it cannot yet say for sure whether aliens exist, and it will keep looking.
Where things stand
No concrete evidence of extraterrestrial life or retrieved alien spacecraft has ever been made public. Puthoff’s account rests on what other people have told him, and Farah’s sources remain unnamed. The claims are still deeply contentious, and the debate over what, if anything, the US government has recovered shows no sign of ending.
