A Utah man says a fall from his kitchen counter led to one of the strangest journeys imaginable. He says he flatlined several times, met relatives who had died, and was sent back to his body with two warnings from beings he believes come from the future.
A fall and a feeling of peace
Landon Dennis, 37, now works as a peer support specialist. At the time he was struggling with addiction and had overdosed on heroin and meth. He fell backwards from his kitchen counter and "smashed" his head on the tile floor. His ex-wife found him lying in a pool of blood, and paramedics rushed him to hospital.
In the ambulance, Landon says he found himself outside his own body, looking down as a team worked on him. He says he flatlined several times. "I didn’t realise that I was actually dead," he said.
Another realm
Then, he says, "all of a sudden I was somewhere else". He was in a field of grass where every horrible feeling had gone. He says he could focus on every blade, and that "the grass loved me", which he admits sounds crazy. A large hill shaped like a rainbow rose in front of him, with bright lights behind it.
One light was his grandfather, whom he recognised by his energy. Another was his niece. Landon came to understand the lights as prayers from people who were no longer alive on Earth but were alive in this other realm.
Two beings and two warnings
As he tried to approach his loved ones, two beings stopped him. One was a young woman who seemed to be in her late 20s or early 30s. The other was a man. Landon felt he was related to them, but believes they were future relatives rather than ancestors.
Dark specks then rushed towards him, looking like demons or dark entities. Landon says they were really prayers from his family, both in the other realm and on Earth, flowing out from behind the hill.
He was then sent back, with a warning to look out for two things. He won’t share the details, but says one has already happened and the other has not yet. "I felt a tsunami of love wrap around me as I was blasted back into my own body," he said.
Where things stand
Medics had feared he would not survive the next 24 hours, and expected brain damage if he did.
Against the odds, he fought back, and he says he is doing better now than before the ordeal in September 2022. He hopes sharing his story will comfort people dealing with grief or addiction.
"The one thing I can tell you I know for sure is that there is life after death," he said. "What we do matters. If you’re missing a family member, you will see them again." He added that it was an experience he is very grateful to have had, but that "it was not fun to gain all this knowledge".
