A man who says he travelled almost 200 years into the future has told paranormal researchers about a world of robots, flying vehicles and plants growing over everything. He also claims he ended up hiding from dinosaurs more than a hundred metres tall. His story has been met with a wave of mockery online.

A secret organisation and a machine called The Spider

The man goes only by the name Roman, and he asked to stay anonymous because he fears for his personal safety. In his words, "The most shocking journey I have ever had was when I travelled to the year 2300."

Roman alleges he worked for a secret group called Oklo. He compares it to America’s CIA, except that it operates across the whole world. According to him, the group’s time-travel device was known as The Spider.

A main machine, which he calls the head and heart of the giant, sat in the centre, with eight columns around the edge linked to it by cables.

Roman says the team only ever used it to travel forward, though the machine could also have sent them backwards. However, eight of the most powerful countries, including the United States, Russia, China and Germany, signed a declaration banning trips to the past, fearing a traveller might change the course of history.

Greenery, robots and a roar

What he says he found in 2300 was a world run by high technology, which he describes as a robotic future. Artificial intelligence and flying vehicles are everyday things there. Strangely, plants seem to cover everything, and homes, roads and cars are all draped in greenery.

Then, he says, the visit turned frightening. "Suddenly we heard a roar, a very loud voice," Roman recalled. When the group turned around, they saw what he calls a mystical giant. It was a dinosaur, he says, and it stood taller than a hundred metres.

The group ran and tried to hide among the trees, but there were many more dinosaurs, smaller than the first yet still too many and too close. "We were already thinking about our death and that no one of us will have a grave," he said.

The internet is not convinced

Many people who watched the video were deeply sceptical. The clip drew heavy criticism.

One commenter, Grimm Hades, wrote: "When I want to lose brain cells, I come to this channel and watch time travel vids."

Physicists are also doubtful about the kind of time travel Roman describes. Professor William Hiscock of Montana State University said that travel into the past is "a much more uncertain proposition". He explained that many solutions to Einstein’s equations of General Relativity would let a person meet themselves, or their grandmother, at an earlier time.

For now, Roman’s account remains an unverified claim from a man who will not give his name. Judging by the reaction online, most viewers are keeping their feet firmly in the present.
