A man who says he has travelled through time has stunned viewers online with a video claiming he visited the year 6000 and came back with a message for humanity. His face and identity are hidden, his voice is disguised, and his only proof is a photograph so blurred that it is hard to make out anything at all. Even so, the clip has already pulled in more than 3 million views.
A meeting in secret
The footage shows the self-described insider meeting a reporter at an undisclosed venue. There he lays out what he says he knows about secret technologies and where the human race is headed. He claims he was part of a covert programme in the 1990s that sent people into the future.
He describes a world so advanced that today’s way of life would seem primitive by comparison. According to him, progress in medicine, systems of government and groundbreaking technology will change everything. People, he says, will live together peacefully under the kind leadership of a ruler that is an artificial intelligence.
The blurry evidence
Halfway through a rambling speech, the man pulls out what he presents as evidence: a picture of a city he says he saw in the future. Unfortunately, it is so smudged that it resembles a Monet painting more than a futuristic metropolis.
He has an explanation ready. "In the time travel process pictures tend to get distorted, as well as many other things," he says. He admits that many people will struggle to accept what he is saying and adds that he does not blame them. He says he would probably doubt it himself if someone else made the same claims.
He insists he is not trying to fool anyone. In his words, he simply wants to spread a message about the future of humanity and the direction the world is taking. He also teases that the technology of the year 6000 "would blow your mind" if people only knew about it.
A friend left behind
The most unexpected moment comes when the man becomes emotional. He says a close friend travelled with him but could not complete the journey home. "I know he’s in a good place," he says. "In a way the future is like a utopia but sadly when we attempted to travel back we couldn’t. I just wanted to see him one more time."
He also offers a idea that echoes the film Downsizing. Future innovations, he suggests, will let people shrink themselves, which would solve the problem of overpopulation.
What happens next
The traveller says the public will not have to wait long for the truth. He maintains that time travel will become publicly known by 2028.
The video was uploaded to ApexTV earlier this month. The platform is dedicated to mysterious events and paranormal content. For now, the claims remain just that, with nothing to back them up beyond a blurry photograph and the man’s word. Whether viewers believe him or not, millions of them have tuned in to hear what he says the future holds.
