A man who says he has visited the year 6000 has come forward with a description of humanity’s future, and he claims to have a photograph of a futuristic city to prove it. His identity is hidden and his voice is disguised, but his message is bold: life 4,000 years from now is so advanced that today will look primitive.

A secret project from the 1990s

The anonymous man alleges that he took part in a secret government programme in the 1990s that sent people into the future. He sat down with a reporter at a secret venue to talk about what he calls classified technologies and what lies ahead for mankind.

According to his account, advances in healthcare, political systems and revolutionary technology will make our present-day lives seem completely primitive. He also asserts that people in the year 6000 live peacefully under the benevolent rule of an AI leader.

A grainy picture and a plea to be believed

To back up his story, he says he has a picture of an unknown metropolis. The image is extremely grainy, but he insists that is perfectly normal. "In the time travel process pictures tend to get distorted, as well as many other things," he says.

He admits that many people will struggle to accept what he is saying. "I know a lot of you are going to find my story extremely hard to believe and I don’t blame you," he says, adding that if he were watching someone else make the same claims, he would most likely not believe them either.

He says deception is not his aim. "I simply want to spread a message about the future of humanity and where the world is heading," he says. He claims the technologies that exist in the year 6000 would "blow your mind" if people only knew.

A painful goodbye

The interview turns emotional when the man explains that he had to leave a close companion behind, because that person cannot make the journey back. "I know he’s in a good place," he says. "In a way the future is like a utopia but sadly when we attempted to travel back we couldn’t. I just wanted to see him one more time."

Shrinking humans and a deadline

As the footage ends, he says future innovations will allow humans to shrink in size, which would remove any limits on space. The idea resembles the premise of the Matt Damon film Downsizing.

He further alleges that time travel will be publicly acknowledged by 2028, which would mean we will soon learn whether there is any truth to his remarkable claims.

The story arrives amid plenty of other time travel talk online, including a viral 1941 photo that left people confused by an eerie detail, and a mysterious 1917 photo of a so-called surfer man that is said to prove time travel is real.

For now, the man’s claims remain just that: claims, with no proof beyond a blurry image. If he is right, though, the world will not have long to wait to find out whether any of it is true.
